East Rutherford, NJ — Dial Or Nodial heads the list of 3-year-old colts in pursuit of a starting berth in the $500,000 Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic, the richest of all state-bred events, on Saturday, June 13 at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Elimination races for the New Jersey Classic and its companion event, the $200,000 Thomas D’Altrui Miss New Jersey for fillies, will be raced this weekend. The top five finishers in each elim will advance to the finals on Saturday, June 13. The colts and geldings will compete in a pair of $25,000 elims, carded as races three and five on Saturday, June 6, while the fillies will meet in a pair of $20,000 elims, races one and three, on Friday, June 5.

Dial Or Nodial will start from post four in the first of the New Jersey Classic elims for driver Brian Sears and trainer Jim Campbell. In just his second start of the season, Dial Or Nodial rallied to a career best 1:50.1 score in the $200,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Championship on May 30. Dial Or Nodial was one of the nation’s top freshman colts last year, winning eight of 12 starts and $414,124. Bred and owned by Arlene and Jules Siegel, Dial Or Nodial is a son of Western Ideal.

Scarlet McZara bids for a stakes double in the Miss New Jersey after rallying to an upset victory in last week’s NJSS Championship for fillies. The daughter of McArdle will start from post three in the second of the Miss New Jersey elims on Friday night with Andy Miller in the sulky. Scarlet McZara, trained by Bart Dalious, was a bargain $5,500 yearling purchase by The Wiz Kids Stable of Dover, DE.
