DiConstanzo, Schwartz win Yonkers NAADA events

Yonkers, NY — Nicole DiCostanzo and Alan Schwartz won their respective $10,000 North American Amateur Drivers Association Fall Trotting Series events on Thursday (Aug. 25) at Yonkers Raceway.

In the first split, DiCostanzo sent Jekyil N Hyde to the front from the three-hole to control splits of :30.1 and 1:01.2 with Crews Hilltopper (Joe Lee) tight on their back. Up the backside, DiCostanzo asked her charge for more, and Jekyil N Hyde sped to a :29 third quarter before capping a 1:59.3 mile a half length better than Crews Hilltopper. Fiji (David Offenberg) was third.

DiConstanzo also trains Jekyil N Hyde, a 5-year-old Whom Shall I Fear gelding, for owner Christie DeCotis.

In the other division, Schwartz zipped to the lead from the six-hole with Raceace, and the 6-year-old Yankee Glide gelding was never in trouble. After using a :28.3 quarter to assume control, he continued unopposed and cruised home three-quarters of a length better than runner-up Keystone Blade (Joe Pennacchio) in 1:58. Brilliant Bob (Scott Keppler) was third.

Schwartz also owns and trains Raceace, who upped his seasonal bankroll to over $52,000.
