Don Fanucci Zet easily wins Aabergs Memorial

Malmö, Sweden — Is Sweden’s Don Fanucci Zet Europe’s best trotter at present?

Don Fanucci Zet, driven by Örjan Kihlström, took command from his inside post and easily won the prestigious Aabergs Memorial at Jägersro, covering the mile in 1.52.2. Stoletheshow and Björn Goop were second; Vernissage Grif and Alessandro Gocciadoro finished third.

Don Fanucci Zet, owned and bred by the powerful Zet Stable and trained by Daniel Redén, might be the best trotter in Europe at this time. He won in a hand drive, with his earplugs still in the ears, and picked up the winner’s purse of $155,000 (U.S.). So far, Don Fanucci Zet has lifetime winnings of $1.3 million.

Don Fanucci Zet is sired by Hard Livin, and his dam, Kissed By The West is a pacer sired by Western Terror.

On the same card, the Breeders Course final for 3-year-old trotters, was won by the German-bred and Dutch-trained and owned Gio Cash, with trainer-driver Dion Tesselaar in the bike. The son of Ready Cash was in command the whole trip and managed to hold off Barack Face with Adrian Kolgjni by a half length in 1.54.4. The purse for the winner was $77,500.

The 4-year-old Seven Nation Army, sired by Chapter Seven and driven by Nicklas Korfitsen, impressively rallied from behind to win by a nose over Akilles Face (Adrian Kolgjini) in 1.54. Seven Nation Army was bought out of the Ray Schnittker stable in January by Danish trainer Bo Westergaard.
