Donald Finn, 85, passes away

Columbus, OH — Donald Finn, 85, of Saratoga, N.Y., passed away on May 15, 2024, at Glens Falls Center healthcare facility. He had chronic kidney disease due to diabetes.

He was born April 6, 1939, in Saranac Lake, N.Y., the son of Roy and Lois. After high school he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.

Mr. Finn trained Standardbreds for over 50 years, mainly at Vernon Downs and Saratoga Raceway. He was also employed part-time at Upstate Transit Bus Company. He was always happy working with horses and people. He would offer his help whenever someone was in need and was always generous with his smiles and his time.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Mark) Makara and Kari (Joe); son, Paul (Jacqueline); sisters, Patti (Larry) Bandolin and Peg (Sandy) Swingle; as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; their two sons, Donald and Jeffrey; as well as his parents.
