After having been nominated by Maine’s Governor Mills and vetted by the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee with a unanimous vote of support, today his appointment was confirmed by another unanimous vote by The Senate of the Maine State Legislature.

Previously, Marean served four years in the Maine House of Representatives (2005-2008) and was re-elected to the House in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018. In between those terms, he was the spokesman for the industry at the Statehouse as their lobbyist.

Marean founded Lindon Farm, Inc. with his wife Linda in 1988, and they ran it continually until 2009 as a Standardbred breeding facility where they stood up to five stallions at one time. In 2010 they retired from breeding but continue to own and race horses.

Harry B. Center of Freeport and Patricia A. Varnum of Greene were also confirmed as Commissioners of the Maine State Harness Racing Commission today.
