Don’tcallmefrancis takes Saturday Open at Northville Downs

Northville, MI — In Saturday’s (May 28) Open 1 Pace at Northville Downs, driver Art McIlmurray and Don’tcallmefrancis (Rocknroll Hanover-Nanny Withafanny) teamed up for a decisive wire-to-wire victory, the gelding’s 51st career victory and back-to-back Open 1 wins at Northville Downs, stopping the clock in 1:54.2.

Don’tcallmefrancis set sail off the car to an opening quarter in :27, fended off challenges from Music Is Art (Marc St. Louis Jr.) and Lying In Cash (Jason Merriman) from the half-mile pole to the final turn and held sway to draw off by 1-3/4 lengths at the finish.

Don’tcallmefrancis is owned by Rocky Wingfield and Jason Seymour trains the 9-year-old pacing gelding.

McIlmurray led all drivers with three wins on the card.

Northville Downs continues live racing Friday (June 3), with a first race post time of 7:30 p.m.
