Dorothy Manges, 85, dies

Dover, DE — Dorothy J. Manges, 85, died Nov. 13, 2010 in Dover, Del.

Mrs. Manges was a member of the USTA and owned many horses which were raced by her late husband, Del, mostly in the Western New York area and Delaware.

Several of the Manges children have served in various capacities in harness racing: Randy is sales manager of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale and a member of the Hall of Fame committee; Brian is an investigator for the Delaware Harness Racing Commission; Gene is a horseman at Western New York racetracks; and Larry was a well-regarded trainer-driver for a number of years.

She is survived by her children, Dean (Jonnie), Gene, Larry (Jeannie), Randy, Brian (Margie) and Diana (Richard) Finch; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Western New York Hall of Fame driver, Del.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Price Funeral Home in Harrington, Del. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, Del.
