Dorothy’s Legacy earns lifetime mark in Meadows co-feature

Washington, PA — Dorothy’s Legacy powered to the point before the quarter and rolled home without a serious challenge in a career-best 1:52.2 in Thursday’s (May 13) co-feature at The Meadows, a $10,300 Filly & Mare conditioned pace.

Once on the lead for Tony Hall, the 5-year-old daughter of Art Major-Put On A Display easily rebuffed the first-up challenge of her stablemate, Circle The Page, and drew off late, defeating early leader Amelias Courage A by 1-1/4 lengths. Windsun Juno completed the ticket. John Sullivan trains Dorothy’s Legacy, who lifted her lifetime bankroll to $110,282, for Greg Usner.

Speaking of lifetime marks, D P Rocket matched her best clocking of 1:55.1 in the companion feature, a $10,300 conditioned trot, widening late to down Tamar by 2-1/4 lengths, with Roundtown Rocker third. Mike Wilder piloted the 5-year-old daughter of All In Tad-Striking Annie, who now boasts career earnings of $127,246, for trainer Tyler Stillings and owner Rags To Riches of PA.

Elsewhere on Thursday’s card, Knight Lauxmont snapped one of harness racing’s most enduring futility streaks when he broke his maiden in career start 47. The 5-year-old Art’s Card Trick-Scott’s Sweety gelding converted a pocket trip to victory for Hall, trainer Nathan Bresnahan and owner Matthew Miller.

Actually, Knight Lauxmont has been much improved of late, finishing no worse than fourth in five of his six most recent starts before today. He was sent off at 2-1, so that second victory may not prove as elusive.

Dave Palone joined Hall, Wilder and trainers Robert Barnard and Tim Twaddle with two wins each on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday when the 13-race program features a $1,016.38 carryover in the Pick-5 (race eight). First post is 12:45 p.m.
