Douglas Parish Sr., 76, dies

Columbus, OH — Douglas Lee Parish, Sr., 76, died Sept. 15, 2013, in Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Charlotte, Mich., son of Edward (Pat) and Adeline (DeWaters) Parish.

Mr. Parish was co-owner of Lansing Electric Motors. After his retirement he enjoyed driving part time for Metro Toyota.

He was a member and past master of the Grand Ledge Masonic Lodge #179; member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association, IBEW 665, and the National Electrical Contractors Association.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris; daughter, Patti (Craig) VanWalback; son, Steven (April); grandchildren, David, Aimee, Matthew and Amber; great granddaughter, Raelynn; and brother, Jerry. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Jr.; and his parents.

A funeral service will be held Thursday (Sept. 19) at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 411 Harrison St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with Rev. Troy Shaw officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home on Wednesday (Sept. 18) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
