Dover Downs kicks off 50th anniversary season with Delaware bred, hard-knocking claimers

Dover, DE — The top three finishers from the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund two-year-old colt and gelding Trot final of one month ago take on the undefeated Delaware-bred filly Orabelle in Dover’s opener on Monday (Nov. 4) at 4:30 p.m.  Orabelle, three for three in her Delaware engagements, was dominant over the filly group while trotting faster than the boys.

Several events for hard-knocking claimers are scattered throughout the Monday opener as well.   The featured ninth is a $17,500 claiming pace and pits Gotta Minute N (claimed in his last three starts), against Good Living who makes his first start since last spring at Dover and drops from $35,000, and Kokanee Seelster for the steady Clark barn.

Monday’s card features 12 races with a host of wagering options.  The $.50 Pick-5 begins in Race 2.
