The new host of the 3-year-old events in The Downstate Classic will be the Greene County Fair at Carrollton, Ill. They were the winning bidder for the right to host the 2014 and 2015 Downstate Classic for 3-year-old trotters and pacers.

Horsemen, we are thrilled to announce there will be a substantial increase in the purses thanks to Carrollton’s bid. We also want to thank the Al Jeffers family who are making a major donation to the purses in his memory.

The Downstate Classic would like to thank the other bidders for the event as well as the Illinois Bureau of County Fairs and Horse Racing for their assistance. Everyone put in a great effort, and we appreciate the cooperation.
