Dozen enter Dexter Cup; eight horse elim on Saturday

Freehold, NJ — A field of eight horses will race for a purse of $44,400 in the 10th race, the 3-year-old Dexter Cup elimination, on Saturday (April 25) at Freehold Raceway.

A total of 12 horses dropped in for the event, which led to four horses with the highest lifetime earnings electing to receive a bye and advance to the final.

Habitat, trained by Ron Burke, was the highest lifetime money earner with $534,407 on his card. Habitat holds a mark of 1:53.4. The other three horses which will advance to the final are Sixteen Encores, Gabe The Bear Dean and Broken Record.

Trainer Ray Schnittker will be starting a total three horses in the elimination race with Switchblade Hall, HA Taylor and Bavaro. Rounding out the rest of the field are Handover The Money, Divisionist, Apostles Creed, Explosiveday and Southwind Mozart.

The $133,170 final will be raced on Saturday (May 2), along with the filly division, the Lady Suffolk.
