Dreamfair Eternal has been named USTA Horse of the Month for August.

Trained by Patrick Fletcher, the 7-year-old Camluck-J Cs Nathalie mare was driven in both of those stakes victories by Brian Sears. For the season, Dreamfair Eternal has won six of her 10 starts, with earnings of $610,505.

Lifetime, she now ranks No. 8 in earnings among all female pacers in history, with $2.24 million. My Little Dragon ($2.31 million) and Southwind Tempo ($2.39 million) are just ahead of her. Eternal Camnation, with $3.74 million, tops the list.

Over her last 39 starts, dating back to October 2009, Dreamfair Eternal has won 28 times and finished no worse than third in 36 of those races.

Dreamfair Eternal posted the 50th win of her brilliant career when she came from off the pace to win the $245,000 Lady Liberty for pacing mares on August 6 at Meadowlands Racetrack. Dreamfair Eternal crossed the wire in 1:49.2. Rock N Soul finished second for Yannick Gingras while Ticket To Rock and Jody Jamieson were third.

Two weeks later in the $235,750 Golden Girls on August 20 at Meadowlands Racetrack, Dreamfair Eternal also came from behind to post a victory in 1:50. She scored by 2-1/4 lengths over Anndrovette (Tim Tetrick) with Chancey Lady (George Brennan) third.

“I enjoy her probably as much as my own children and grandchildren,” breeder/owner John Lamers told Ken Weingartner of Harness Racing Communications in a story that ran last month on the USTA website. “We raised her, so it’s special. She just hates to lose. She’s a bit of a freak.”
