Drew Monti won the Rising Stars Pace.

Monti, the 18-year-old son of trainer Darrin Monti, left alertly from post three and cruised to a five length win in a mile of 2:02.3. Farther back in second was Brittney Ohol. Jami Chatt, driving in her first race ever, came in third while 15-year-old Jon Mays finished fourth after his pacer made a costly break.

“Events like this bring out people to watch and our numbers showed it,” said Todd Haight, Batavia Downs GM. “Even though the weather was much cooler than last year we had a pretty good day.”

Live racing at the Nation’s oldest lighted harness racetrack resumes on Wednesday night. Post time is 6:25 p.m. The Pick-6 carryover pool going into Wednesday’s program is up to $6,950.
