‘Drive To Win’ 2010 dates are available

from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame

Goshen, NY — The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame’s popular traveling exhibit “A Drive To Win” is currently available for loan.

The presentation, which has been made possible by the sponsorship of Hanover Shoe Farms and is a production of the Harness Racing Museum in Goshen is dedicated to the drivers and trainers who make every race possible, but through circumstance, choice, design or fate, did not rise to stardom.

You will not meet these memorable people in harness racing’s Hall of Fame or find them in the Hall of the Immortals; however, their stories are important — to them, to their families and to those who follow the sport. Their love and commitment to the sport and their endurance in the face of adversity makes this diverse group of remarkable men and women the backbone of harness racing. They are inspiring, down-to-earth and, most assuredly, worthy of our respect, affection and, above all, appreciation. Their message is clear: the one shining element that connects all, even through adversity, is their love of and commitment to the great sport of harness racing.

This exhibit provides a wonderful opportunity to discover the joys and the heartaches of the exciting, historic sport of harness racing. Journey with us and learn why these wonderful human beings had such a ‘Drive To Win.’

Huge photo-storyboards, many provided by the United States Trotting Association and the sport’s weekly magazine, The Horseman And Fair World, introduce the 27 subjects of the exhibit, many of whom will be recognized with affection by harness fans nationwide. The stars of the show were nominated by racing fans and are Angus Allen, Richard Baker, Hugh Allison Bell, Edwin Bither, Harry Burright, Vernon Crank, Harold R. Dancer, Norman Dauplaise, Alfred “Bucky” Day, Bea Farber, George Forshey, Hilda Heydt, Maxie Lee, Joe Lighthill, Howard Parker, George Phalen, Jimmy and Robbie Rankin, Ervin Samples, Forrest Short, Phyllis Smith Page, Harold Snodgrass, Colby Turner, Sacher Werner, John “Tic” Wilcutts, Lew Williams and Mildred Williams.

Their poignant stories of dedication and determination, set against a backdrop of driving colors and other career mementos, provide an illuminating glimpse into this great American pastime.

The exhibit is available free of charge to racetracks, fairs, museums, galleries and educational institutions.
