Driving clinic in Ohio set for March 24

by Jessica Schroeder, USTA Outreach & Membership Enrichment Coordinator

Columbus, OH — For those interested in driving horses — both race horses and pleasure driving horses — a clinic will be held on Sunday (March 24) at Laurel Haven Farm in Laurelville, Ohio.

Licensed Standardbred trainer TJ Leasure will go over the basics of harnessing to the jog cart with retired racehorses Allamerican Legacy and Thank You Sam. Julie Bellar will go over the pleasure cart, dress and driving tips with her retired Standardbred Bumble B’s Yogi.

Equipment and horses will be available to those that want to try their hand at driving in the indoor arena. Jennifer Daniels, the new Standardbred trainer for New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program, will also be a speaker.

The cost to sign up is $10 and will run from 12 noon until 3 p.m.

The event is sponsored by New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program and the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of Ohio.

For more information, or to sign up, contact Jennifer Daniels at jennifer@horseadoption.com or call Debbie Schiff at 740.207.0582.

Since 1996, the Standardbred Equine Program has worked with off-the-track Standardbreds and their owners to educate the general public about the many disciplines at which Standardbreds excel once they are retired from racing.
