Droste will receive one percent of all purses earned by Captaintreacherous during the remainder of his racing career.

Captaintreacherous was one of harness racing’s brightest stars in 2012. He was named Pacer of the Year over many older rivals, putting a bow on a season that saw him earn $918,253.

In addition, he is the fastest 2-year-old ever seen at the Meadowlands, with his 1:49.3 tour-de-force in the Woodrow Wilson. He also won the $1.01 million Metro final in 1:49.2 in Canada.

Rightfully so, Captaintreacherous is No. 1 on ‘The Road to the Meadowlands Pace,’ listed on the spring-book line at 2-1.

More than 10,000 entries were submitted for the promotion. Fans had the chance to enter the contest every Saturday night through May 4.
