DSBF frosh male stakes move to second leg preliminaries

Dover, DE — Two $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund freshman colt and gelding paces begin the second leg action on Monday (Nov. 20) with a $14,000 trot topping the overnight card at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

Both winners of last week’s prelims drew into separate divisions. In the first race, Jo Ann Looney-King’s Evolution Tour with Tim Tetrick was a 1:53.3 winner last Monday. He has three wins and three seconds in six starts this year.

His biggest concern appears to be Jay Shores’ Sea Bags with Tony Morgan and Mingo, a George Teague Jr. bred and owned colt.

In the second $20,000 DSBF section, owner-breeder George Leager’s Slick Tony puts his seven wins in nine races record on line with Russ Foster at the controls.

Two of his contenders finished second last week. George Teague and wife Joy saw their homebred Transitioning Joy reined by Montrell Teague and trained by Clyde Francis finish second to Slick Tony. Bay Pond Racing’s America First was second to Evolution Tour with trainer-driver Jeff Fout.

Dover Downs now presents a 50-cent Pick-5 wager which starts with the second race through the sixth. A late daily double can be found on the 12th and 13th races.
