DSBF pacing colts & geldings featured at Dover Downs

Dover, DE – The Dover series for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund freshman pacing colts and geldings got underway with four $20,000 divisions led off by an early non-wagering race at 4:10 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 8) at Dover Downs with the remaining three on the regular overnight card.

Montrell Teague started off the night with a win in the early non-wagering event earning a new lifetime record of 1:54.1 for the maiden, Schrute (Southwind Lynx-Nikijah). Bred and owned by his father, George Teague, Jr. and trained by Clyde Francis. Bad And Boujee (Russell Foster) was second followed by Nipsey (Ross Wolfenden) for the show.

The first half of the daily double was all Johnny Badlands (Badlands Hanover-Honey) in a new lifetime record of 1:54.2 for the “Captain”, Corey Callahan. Bred, owned, and trained by John Dixon. It’s Pronounced Jif (Montrell Teague) followed in second and Clear Mist (Allan Davis) was third.

Second half of the double was a blistering 1:53 won by D’s Heartland (Badlands Hanover-Armbro Cashmere) handily for driver, Art Stafford, Jr. and trainer Les Givens. Bred and owned by Nanticoke Racing, Inc and Donna Messick. Place was Ash In The Wind (Tim Tetrick) and third was Cntnobdytelmenothn (Tony Morgan).

Fourth and final division of the night was a wire-to-wire effort for Heinikin Bythebay (Southwind Lynx-Sally Pansen) in the fastest division of the night in 1:52.2. Driven by recently inducted Hall of Famer, Tim Tetrick, and trained by Kevin Switzer. Bred and owned by KDK Standardbreds. Harrington final winner, It’s Above Me Now (Montrell Teague) was second followed by Casinobags Vincent (Victor Kirby) for the show.

The second leg is next Monday (Nov. 15). Two-year-old trotters will race tomorrow (Nov. 9) night. Post time is 4:30 p.m. with two early non-wagering events.
