Early leaders win at Hazel Park

Hazel Park, MI — If you wanted to win a race on Tuesday night (August 23) at Hazel Park you had to be ready to roll from the word “go”.

Eight out of the 11 races on the card on Tuesday night were won by horses that had the lead by the time they hit the quarter-pole. One out of the three remaining races was won with a quarter-pole move to the front and the other two winners on the night came from off the pace.

Peter Wrenn took full advantage of the front end racing and found the winner’s circle three times on Tuesday night.

Wrenn won the first race for owner/trainer Scott Galloway and his wife Tracy with Thunder Boomer, a four-year-old gelding by Skipper Gill. Wrenn got the driving double in the second with Joyful Years for trainer Michael Gorshe and owners Cathy Vaupel and Diane Norris. The final win of the evening came in the sixth race for trainer Jessica Roegner and owner Donald Sherman with Hot Link, an eight-year-old gelding by Abercrombie.
