Eddie Kirk, 95, dies

Columbus, OH — Eddie Kirk, 95, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Dec. 18, 2011.

He formerly owned Kirk’s Furniture in Washington Court House and Kirk’s Auto Parts and was a licensed funeral director.

Mr. Kirk was a longtime member of the Fayette County Fair Board, Ohio State Fair Board and Ohio Fair Manager’s Association. He was inducted into Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame in 1991 and Ohio Fair Manager’s Hall of Fame in 2005.

He owned Standardbreds and was the breeder of Speedy Count 3,1:58.4 ($333,924) and owner of Time’s Square p,1:58.1 ($129,101).

Mr. Kirk is survived by his sons, Jim and Don; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and a sister-in-law, Betty Lou McCoy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances; and brothers, Richard and Ansel Kirkpatrick.

Memoral services will be held on Thursday (Dec. 22) at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Entombment of cremains will be in the columbarium in Washington cemetary. A masonic service will take place at the cemetary prior to entombment. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service.
