Edward O’Rourke, 84, dies

Columbus, OH — Edward M. O’Rourke, 84, of Olympia Fields, Ill., died June 14, 2012.

He was born August 7, 1927 and was an Army veteran.

Mr. O’Rourke was co-owner and breeder of many horses including Illinois champion Our Last Kiss and her successful son O’Rourke Three as a partner with the late Dennis Nardoni in Claire E Enterprises. He also owned Sams Storm and was a patron of the Bruce Saunders and Brian Pelling Stables.

He was a devoted Notre Dame fan and for years advised members of the basketball teams on contract and investment decisions after they graduated.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Jane (Stephen) Bender, John C. (Mary) O’Rourke, Jr., Ellen (William) Middendorf and Ann (Kerry) Dulin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John C. (Marijane) and James J.
