Edwin Gannon, 73, dies

Columbus, OH — Edwin Francis Gannon, 73, of Church Hill, Md., died Feb. 12, 2011, at his home.

Born in Ridgley he was the son of the late James Leo and Ethel Rhodes Gannon. He graduated from Easton High School, class of 1955, attended the University of Maryland and served in the Army from 1956-1959 as a Spec 5 Military Police. He married Barbara Bennington in 1960.

Mr. Gannon was an owner, trainer and driver of Standardbreds.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Daphne (Wayne) Young and Susan; son, Edwin Jr. (Dawn); grandchildren, Courtney (Chastain) Brooks, Cory Young and MacKenzie Kiel; great grandchild, Benjamin Brooks; brothers, Franklin, Vincent and Holton; and sisters, Mary Jo Jump and Regina Russ. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Mae Rash, Clara Herzog and Marie Dudley; and brothers, Eugene, James Jr., William and Robert.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2011, at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery.
