Elizabeth Lane wins Meadows series leg in career debut

by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA — Elizabeth Lane, whose racing career spanned two qualifiers only, proved a quick study on Thursday (April 10) at The Meadows as she went wire-to-wire in the $13,000 opening leg of the Chartiers Township Trot for 3-year-old fillies.

The daughter of SJ’s Caviar, unraced at 2, began her career miserably, breaking stride repeatedly in a qualifier. But she settled down when trainer/driver Doug Snyder rigged her with hopples, qualifying impressively in 1:59.

Wearing hopples on Thursday, she was fast and flat, scoring in 1:57.3 by 3-1/4 lengths over Olivia’s Jewel. Charged Freight was third. Snyder owns Elizabeth Lane with Wayne A. Shaffer III.

The final of the Chartiers Township is set for April 24.

In the $20,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, Dyno Trevor was unchallenged in a soft half of :59, making him uncatchable in the back half. He triumphed for Mike Wilder in 1:55.4, 1-1/4 lengths better than Heza Challenger. Maingate Victory was third.

Roy Mac Davis trains Dyno Trevor, an 8-year-old son of Conway Hall, for Brent Davis.
