Ellasen moves late, wins Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Ellasen overtook her stablemate, Spanish Dream, in the stretch and went on to capture Wednesday’s (May 4) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $9,500 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

Spanish Dream took the lead with a quick backside burst from third, but Ellasen was looming wide. The 8-year-old daughter of Big Bad John-So Very Nice was stronger in the lane for Hunter Myers and prevailed in 1:52.4 over a “good” surface, 1-1/2 lengths better than 30-1 long shot Morning Shadow. Spanish Dream saved show.

Kris Rickert trains Ellasen, who won for the 28th time in her career and lifted her bankroll to $317,237, for Murdock Racing Stable LLC.

Jeremy Indoff and trainer Norm Parker joined Myers with two wins each on the 11-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 11-race program features an $866.46 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
