Empress Deo scores upset win at Harrington

Harrington, DE — Legacy Racing of Delaware’s Empress Deo ($24.60, Montrell Teague) was an upset winner in 1:54.3 in the featured $15,000 Mares Open Tuesday (April 10) at Harrington Raceway.

The 7-year-old Rocknroll Hanover mare settled off a contested early pace in which Nerida Franco eventually made the lead in fractions of :27.1, :56.3 and 1:26. With the front end folding, Empress Deo collared the leaders and made the lead near the three-quarters and held off a fierce charge from favorite Terror At Night for the win. Purrfect Bags was third.

Trained by Wayne Givens, Empress Deo notched her 27th career win

It was one of three wins on the program for Teague.

Mike Cole, Ross Wolfenden, Allan Davis and Victor Kirby each had a double.
