Equine health clearance in Delaware

from the Delaware Harness Racing Commission

Dover, DE — Based on information received from New Hampshire Racing Commission Veterinarian, Matthew Gerard Levesque (Dr. Levesque, in consultation with New Hampshire State Veterinarian, Stephen Crawford, received a series of negative PCR and clinical Blood tests) and NHRC Representative, Dale Childs, releasing isolated horses back into the general racing and stabling community at Rockingham Park, New Hampshire, the Delaware Harness Racing Commission takes the following position regarding any and all prior prohibitions to horses stabled, trained, raced and/or schooled at Rockingham Park since June 1, 2008:

All prior prohibitions, consistent with the nature and time frame described above, are hereby released and waived from enforcement. The DHRC has carefully monitored and evaluated this situation under the supervision and direction of Secretary of Agriculture, Michael T. Scuse. This morning Dr. Annie Renzetti, under the direction of the Administrator, consulted and confirmed with Dr. Levesque the current state of affairs relative to this serious and potentially dangerous matter. Dr. Levesque has confirmed, along with NHRC Representative Childs, their confidence ”…that all horses at Rockingham Park present no risk to any other racetrack in the country.”

Consequently, the DHRC accepts Dr. Renzetti’s recommendation to lift any prohibitions and accept entries on eligible horses that have stabled, trained, raced and/or schooled at Rockingham Park since June 1, 2008 at the tracks under the jurisdiction of the DHRC.
