Eric Davis scores first win at Scarborough Downs

Scarborough, ME — Eric Davis became the latest member of the famed Delmarva harness racing family to etch his name in the winner’s ranks at an extended meet, as the 18-year-old steered Big Heart from off the pace to grab top honors on Sunday (April 26) at Scarborough Downs.

Eric Davis’ face cannot mask his excitement at winning his first extended meet race at Scarborough Downs on Sunday.

The red and white Davis family colors, so familiar to fans up and down the eastern seaboard, get their latest redesign this season as Eric follows in the footsteps of his father Eddie Davis Jr. and grandfather Eddie Davis Sr. On his maternal side, mother and noted trainer Janet Stevenson Davis and harness driving uncle Mike Stevenson were surely beaming with pride.

The win was actually the second in Davis’ career, but his first since being elevated to provisional driver status following his 18th birthday, and his first at Scarborough Downs.

Live harness racing resumes at Scarborough Downs next Saturday, Kentucky Derby Day, with a special 2 p.m. (EDT) post time. The Sunday matinee gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
