Ernest Winske, 86, dies

Marlborough, MA —Former Marlborough Postmaster Ernest Winske, who raced several harness horses over the years, died (May 15) after a lengthy illness. He was 86.

Mr. Winske was well known city wide and in the racing industry and owned horses such has Little Brown Jug starter Gryffindor.

A former USTA member “Ernie” was the father of New England Hall of Famer Jim Winske who trained, owned and drove harness horses for nearly 30 years.

Mr. Winske retired some years ago as Postmaster and spent time at his Florida home.

Calling hours at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Marlborough, MA are 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday (May 19) followed by a funeral Mass Monday (May 20) at 10 a.m. in St. Matthias Church, Hemenway St, Marlborough.
