Ervin Pulse, 74, dies

Columbus, OH — Ervin Pulse, 74, of Greenfield, Ohio, died Feb. 3, 2010, at the Kobacker House Hospice Center in Columbus.

Mr. Pulse was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Hillsboro to the late Ozro and Virginia (Ervin) Pulse. He graduated from Lynchburg High School in 1953 and from Ohio State University in 1957. He was a retired vocational agriculture teacher at McClain High School in Greenfield.

Mr. Pulse was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ, a life member of the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, and a member of the OSU Alumni Association, the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association and the USTA.

He refereed many high school basketball games, was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, bred and trained Standardbreds, had four American farmers, 38 state farmers, and was an honorary American farmer. He also sang with several barbershop quartets for more than 40 years.

Mr. Pulse was married June 14, 1959 to the former Doris L. Peterson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Amy (Paul) Bailey, Bret (Rhonda) and Cheryl (Paul) Knech; four grandchildren, Ashley (David) Rockafellow, Lindsey, Alexander and Tristin; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Greenfield Church of Christ, with pastors Bill Requardt, Larry Maynard and Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Harwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6.
