Esquire Spur had a mark of 1:56 as a racehorse and earned $336,250.

The former Walnut Hall stallion has sired 236 foals. He was sent to the Yoder Farm in 2005 from Walnut Hall to live out his retirement and finish his stallion career. He has sired eight at his new home and has another foal coming in 2011.

His declining health was due to a heart ailment.

I’m sure if he could say thank you it would be to Alan Leavitt, Steve Katz, Dot Morgan and New Vocations for giving him the opportunity to go and enjoy his last years experiencing things most breeding stallions don’t. In the past two years he did not like living alone so he was turned out with other horses.

He will be sadly missed by quite a few as he has quite a fan club here in Michigan.
