Eugene Hurt, 65, dies

Columbus, OH — Eugene William “Gene” Hurt, 65, of Canonsburg, Pa., died Nov. 17, 2017, in North Strabane Rehabilitation and Wellness Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 11, 1952, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Frank Eugene and Yvonne Lee Hunter Hurt. Mr. Hurt was Protestant. He was employed for more than 30 years as a driver/trainer at the Meadows racetrack.

Mr. Hurt was a member of Fraternal Order of Bears, Meadow Lands, and was a social member of Houston American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and golf.

Surviving are two daughters, Timmi Nicole (Matthew) Roberts and Erin Melissa Troutman; stepson, John Burnette; brothers, Frank (Mary) Goodman, Danny (Bonnie) Goodman, Thomas (Averi) Goodman and David (Penny); grandchildren, Matthew Hawk, Christopher Troutman, PFC Shawn (Autumn) Troutman, U.S. Army, Samantha Beckwith (Cpl. Jesse Beckwith, U.S. Marine Corps), Emilie Troutman and Caleb Roberts; and a great-grandson, Greyson Hawk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Kay Hurt; and a sister, Ellen Jent.
