Eurobond begins paying dividends for new connections

Washington, PA — Eurobond seated Jeffery P in a hotly contested :26.4 opening panel and kept him in that seat throughout the mile, capturing Thursday’s (Aug. 5) $16,000 Open Handicap Trot at The Meadows and snapping Jeffery P’s five-race winning streak.

Eurobond, who sold for $205,000 at the recent Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale, asserted himself in his Meadows debut. Chris Gooden photo.

Owner Matthew Morrison gave $205,000 for Eurobond, making the 6-year-old son of Love You and True Diva the sale topper at last month’s Tattersalls Summer Mixed Sale at The Meadowlands. In his second start since the sale, Eurobond began to pay dividends for Morrison, trainer Christen Pantaleano and driver Jim Pantaleano.

Jeffery P came off the rail to challenge in the lane, but Eurobond remained strong, prevailing by a length in a swift 1:52.3. Rising MVP completed the ticket. Eurobond extended his career bankroll to $369,650.

Mike Wilder piloted three winners on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (Aug. 6), when the 12-race program features a pair of carryovers: $672.73 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $450.02 in the Pick-5 (races 7-11). First post is 12:45 p.m.
