Explosive Matter euthanized in Finland

The 18-year-old stallion Explosive Matter, known for being the sire of Hambletonian winner Pinkman, has been euthanized in Finland due to his aggressive behavior.

Despite having a remarkable racing career, achieving a mark of 1:52.3 and earning $1,510,542, Explosive Matter was unfortunately plagued by a difficult temperament.

After retiring from racing, Explosive Matter stood at Hanover Shoe Farm for nine years, where he sired 683 foals, with 521 of them going on to race. These offspring collectively earned an impressive sum of $47,431,935. However, in 2019, Explosive Matter was relocated to Sweden to continue his stud duties, and he was scheduled to be in Denmark this year.

Unfortunately, during Christmas time, Explosive Matter attacked the owner of the stud he was at, causing injuries that required treatment. As a result, Explosive Matter was then sent to Finland in an attempt to find a suitable environment. However, the aggressive behavior persisted, leading to the decision to euthanize the stallion.
