Fair racing contested at Montpelier, Ohio

Montpelier, OH — The Williams County Fair at Montpelier, Ohio, opened up its two-session harness racing program on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 9). A mixture of four colt and filly stakes with three overnight races were featured on the seven-race card.

Rodney Conner guided Justlookatmymuscle (Iron Duke-Just Watch) to a new lifetime mark of 2:11.1 in winning the 2-year-old filly trot. Barbie Conner trains the filly and co-owns her with Cody Conner.

CC Big Boy Sam (Nobleland Sam-CC Biggirl Bretta) won the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:06.1. Scott Christner is the colt’s trainer-driver with Paul Perdue, Brady Galliers and Jeff Batt paying the bills.

Scott Christner also found the winner’s circle in the 3-year-old colt trot with Jess Perfect (Jailhouse Jesse-Perfect Comer). Jennifer Carpenter is the gelding’s owner-trainer. Jess Perfect toured the Montpelier oval in 2:08.3.

Friskie Flicker (Feelin Friskie-Bydawnearlylite) picked up her fourth consecutive win in capturing the 3-year-old filly pace in 2:02.1. The Floral City Stable is the owner of Friskie Flicker with John Schuberg doing the training and Greg Bateson performing the driving duties.

Harness racing will conclude on Tuesday evening with eight harness races and five Trottingbred races. Post time for the first race will be 6:30 p.m.
