More track records fall at York

York, PA — More track records fell on the second day of action at the York Fairgrounds in York, Pa.

In the first race of the day, the first of three PA Sire Stake 3-year-old filly trotting events, BS Genny set a new track record for sophomore trotting fillies, covering the mile in 2:02.4 for driver Dave Brickell. Trainer Sue Brickell co-owns the Malabar Millennium filly with her husband, Dean. BS Genny has now won nine of 16 starts on the season.

Todd Schadel’s Keystone Twilight won the second division in 2:07.3. The Cantab Hall filly was a wire-to-wire winner.

In the final Sire Stake split, Bank Star won her ninth race of the season, trotting in 2:06 for catch-driver Roger Hammer. John and Michelle McMullen own the Banker Hall filly.

BS Genny’s track record fell in the 3-year-old Quaker State trot, as RT Sun Poco (Yankee Paco) trotted to her tenth straight win, lowering the track record for sophomore trotting fillies to 2:01.3. The mile also equaled the all-age trotting record at York, and was the filly’s tenth win in 11 overall starts for the Brocious Racing Stable and trainer/driver Bobby Rougeaux.

Columbia County equaled the all-age track trotting record of 2:01.3.

The all-age record was equaled again in the very next race, as Columbia County (Sierra Kosmos) out-dueled Tehcnicalybroadway (Broadway Hall), earning the 2:01.3 victory for Hammer. Owned by John and Michelle McMullen, Columbia County picked up victory number 12 in 24 starts on the year, and pushed his career bankroll to over $80,000.

The Brickells picked up their second win of the day in the second colt trotting split, as BS Surgin Don was a 2:04.3 winner. The Bedford County gelding won his sixth race of the season in his 13th start.

In the first division of the 3-year-old colt pace, Roger Hammer and Nevin Gilbert’s Lahaye established a new track record for sophomore pacing colts with a 1:56.4 effort. The former record of 1:58.1 had stood for 17 years, as Keystone Mandel had set the mark in 1992. The son of Real Artist remained perfect at the fairs, now 16-for-16, with the victory.

Hammer picked up another winning catch-drive in the first division of the 3-year-old Quaker Pace, as DVC Fine Tune scored in 2:01.2. Owned by Ellen Warren, the Quentin Hanover filly gave trainer Joyce Lineweaver her third victory of the two-day meet.

In the second Quaker Pace, Blueridge Demondog (Blissfull Hall) was a 2:03 winner for owner/trainer Jason Shaw and driver Chris Shaw.

PA Sire Stakes for sophomore filly pacers ended the day, with Hammer’s Real Espresso winning the first division in 2:01.1 for her 16th victory of the season. The winner is a daughter of Real Artist.

The Allamerican Native filly Tremor Hanover won the second split in 1:57.4, just missing the track record for sophomore pacing fillies by one-fifth of a second. Owned by Charles Moses and Shawn Johnston, Tremor Hanover earned her fifth win of the season. Timmy Offutt drove for trainer Aaron Johnston.

Another sub-2:00 mile ended the meet, as Hammer’s Bell On Wheels paced in 1:58.2. The Western Hanover filly earned her 17th win in her 27th start of the year.
