Farnsworth honored at Dresden Raceway

Dresden, ON — Veteran horseman Ormand Farnsworth was enshrined into the Dresden Raceway Hall of Fame on Sunday (June 21), capping off a great day of racing at the local oval.

The 87-year-old owner, trainer and driver has had many horses over the years and has been a constant at Dresden Raceway. Farnsworth and wife of 61 years, Vivian, were given a plaque and honored in a ceremony that reviewed his career on and off the track.

Farnsworth also did track maintenance for many years at Dresden Raceway and has been involved in the track in many other ways including sitting with the Dresden Ag Society.

On the track Tyler Borth was the man with the hot hands as he drove four winners on the day.

Borth notched his first win with Jazzie Crombie in the second race for owners Gord and Jeff Graham. The 6-year-old Lost Privilege gelding paced the mile in 2:01.3.

The second trip to the winner’s circle for the London driver was in the sixth race with Northern Illusion. The 9-year-old Kadabra gelding trotted the mile in 2:04.2 for owner Bobby Knight.

Passionate Pete was the third winner of the day for Borth in the ninth race. The 10-year-old No Pan Intended gelding is owned by Allan Steeves and paced the mile in 2:01.

Borth closed out the day with a win in the 10th race at the controls of M G Idole. The Million Dollar Cam mare paced the mile in 2:01.1. M G Idole is owned by Todd Kennedy.

Greg Drew was the owner, trainer and driver of two winners, including Don’t Yank My Chain in 2:01 in the first race and Boyur Attractive in 2:03.3.

The Father’s Day crowd topped 700 people and bet a total handle of $19,915.
