Campbellville, ON — Despite unfavorable weather conditions at the Mohawk oval, a pair of Casual Breeze divisions took place featuring the sport’s top sophomore trotting fillies.

In the first C$79,519 split, All Ready Hanover rose to the challenge defeating the highly talented Win Missy B, who banked $727,140 last season while making her first appearance of 2012 at the Campbellville oval.

Driven by Trevor Ritchie, the daughter of Chocolatier got a perfect, pocket trip as the four-time winner sat in the two-hole behind post time favorite, Win Missy B (Paul MacDonell). That foe set fractions of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:26.2 before All Ready Hanover tracked down that tempo-setting rival to win by 2-3/4 lengths in a career-best clocking of 1:53.4. Northern Miss Hall (Scott Zeron) finished third.

The lightly-raced filly, who now boasts a record of 4-0-0 from five starts this season, increased her lifetime earnings to $62,489. She paid $11.40 to win.

Following the race trainer and co-owner Ann Karin Larsen was pleased with the bay filly, who she co-owns with her father, Odd.

“She’s always been a nice filly,” Larsen said. “She doesn’t do a thing wrong and always wants to please you. She’s heavily staked this year, so hopefully things work out.”

Larsen paid a mere $5,000 for All Ready Hanover at last year’s Harrisburg Mixed Sale.

“She was a good-looking filly, but she was making breaks for her previous trainer. I think I got lucky, because she’s such a professional and does everything right. That’s why I got my father involved so we can have some fun together.”

Later on the card in race eight, Smarty Pants captured the second $81,020 division for driver Sylvain Filion.

Post time favorite, Idonette (John Campbell), made a costly break shortly after the start, and that allowed Lovely Vacation (Randy Waples) to take control of the tempo before the opening station in :27.3.

As Lovely Vacation controlled the pace, Smarty Pants was enjoying a two-hole trip past the half in :57.1 and 1:26.4, before angling to the outside down the stretch to take the lead well before the wire in 1:56. Lovely Vacation stayed for second, over Circles (Luc Ouellette), who came from off-the-pace to finish third.

Smarty Pants, a daughter of Kadabra, has crafted a 2-4-1 record from seven starts this season for trainer Per Henriksen and owners Asa Farm, Stan Klemencic and Dr. Brett Anderson. The bay filly earned herself a new lifetime best as her bankroll increased to $101,828. She paid $14.30 to win.

“Well I knew she was going to give me a good race, because she was racing well coming into the race in her most recent starts,” Filion said following the win. “When that filly (Idonette) made a break, it encouraged my decision to press forward and it worked out.”

Both Casual Breeze winners are eligible to the Elegantimage Stakes at Mohawk with eliminations coming up next Friday, June 8.

Live racing continues on Saturday evening at Mohawk with a trio of C$100,000 Somebeachsomewhere Stakes divisions taking place. First race post is 7:10 p.m.
