Ferrari and Harmon are GLADA winners at Northfield

Northfield, OH — Two trotting divisions in the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association’s (GLADA) year-long series were contested on Saturday night (Oct. 3) over Northfield Park’s speedy double-oval and when the races were declared official Larry Ferrari and Lauren Harmon each emerged victorious in their respective divisions. Ferrari was a neck winner with Mesmerized in 1:57.2 while Ms. Harmon scored convincingly with Stardust Memories in 1:56.1. Both winners are altered sons of Cantab Hall.

In his split, Ferrari took no prisoners when he sent Mesmerized to the lead from the two-hole and rebuffed any and all challenges.

After gaining command Ferrari got his trotter by the quarter in a relatively soft 29 seconds and was clear on the lead by the half in :59. When Marvin Raber moved Azucar off the pylons as the field headed to the halfway point Daniel Jones followed with Don’t Forget Muscle and they ranged-up to challenge the leader. But when the field headed for the finish line, Mesmerized hung tough and kept Jones’. charge at bay and hung on for a head triumph. Azucar garnered the show dough.

Owned by Kennedy Sports LLC and trained by Clair Umholtz, Mesmerized paid $12.00 for win.

In the other split 20-year-old Harmon and Stardust Memories were decisive winners.

After parking High Blue(Emanuel Miler) in a 27.3 first quarter-mile Harmon kept the pedal to the metal and rebuffed High Blue and had Stardust Memories in complete command as they showed the way by the half in:57.2 From there it was catch-me-if-you-can, and nobody could, as the veteran gelding began to draw off and open daylight on his competition. Stardust Memories cruised to an oh-so-easy 8-1/2 length triumph in 1:56.1

Warrior Way came from far back to finish second for Eddie Miller and Jackie Goldstein, with Michelle “the Belle” Ruvola at the controls, finished third.

Owned by the Pod Stable and trained by Jessica Millner, Stardust Memories returned a $14.00 mutuel.
