Ferrari continues winning ways in Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Trot

Northfield, OH — Larry Ferrari continued his winning ways. On Saturday (May 29) he scored a 1:58.1 triumph with his 5-year-old Wishing Stone gelding, So Wishful, which was Ferrari’s fifth win in his last seven starts. And that victory overcame a sluggish start where So Wishful got away seventh from the two-hole.

Sent away at odds of over 5-1 Ferrari decided to follow Meetmeinthehallway (Darrell Rideout), the second choice in the wagering, who was first-up on the limb as they chased Mego Moss (Steve Oldford) by the :27.3 first quarter.

Oldford’s trotter remained tough on the lead as they passed the halfway point in :57.4. Meanwhile, Ferrari and So Wishful trotted around their cover and took command as the three- quarter timer flashed 1:28.3. And when the field straightened for home So Wishful was the strong horse and began to open lengths on his competition. In the deep stretch Mego Moss began to fade and Lonnie Graber and Better Call Saul inherited second place but they couldn’t catch So Wishful who went on to a 4-length triumph in 1:58.1. Third place went to Time Outa Jail, driven by “Chicago George” Bonomo.

So Wishful, a 5-year-old Wishing Stone gelding, is owned by Kiesha Ferrari and trained by Larry Ferrari. He paid $12.40 for win.
