Fields set for Meadows-Penn Pick-4

Washington, PA – The fields are set for the inaugural Meadows-Penn Pick4, a cross-breed wager this Friday night (July 14).

Featuring a low takeout of 12%, all legs of the Pick-4 will take place within a 40-minute span.

Leg A will be the first race of the evening card at Penn National Race Course, a 1 1/16 mile distaff claimer on the main track. Londonderry has been installed as the 5-2 morning line choice for rider Angel Rodriguez after a fourth place finish against similar company on June 28. Post time is 6 p.m.

Leg B comes from Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, and will be the fourth race on the card, a trotting race for winners of three but not more than five races lifetime. Black Magic, driven by Ronnie Wrenn, ships in from Ohio after a strong third place finish in a three-year-old colt stake last week, and is the 2-1 program choice.

The venue switches back to Grantville, Pennsylvania for Leg C, a one mile filly & mare race on the turf course. Along The Way and rider Ricardo Chiappe are listed at 5-2 as the morning line choice after finishing third on the turf in a higher level on June 22.

The final leg will be Race five at The Meadows, an upper level conditioned trot. Warrawee Whisper will leave from post seven for driver Mike Wilder as the 3-1 slight morning line favorite. The trotter added Lasix last week and finished a fast-closing third in the same class.

The wager will take place on Friday nights through the summer, and is hubbed through The Meadows wagering system as the Meadows-Penn Pick-4.
