Fifteenletters A, On The Tee take Dover features

Dover, DE — Fifteenletters A carved out a wire-to-wire win in a $12,000 Delaware Pace and On The Tee, overlooked at 11-1, pulled a surprise in the $25,000 claiming pace, the co-feature races on Saturday, January 24 at Dover Downs.

Brad Hanners piloted Fifteenletters A to victory on Saturday.

Todd Wise’s Fifteenletters A took the lead at the start and set the tempo for a 1:544 victory in the $12,000 Delaware Pace. Brad Hanners guided the eight-year-old Australian bred son of Walton Hanover to his first win of 2004 after two straight seconds. Potomac Affair (Ross Wolfenden) was second while Hahn’s Specialty (Bryan Truitt) took third. Invader Hall was scratched.

Claimed last time out of a winning effort by Louie Paglierani, On The Tee stepped up one class and prevailed again, this time for driver Wayne Truitt, scoring a 1:55 victory in the $25,000 claiming pace.

On The Tee pulled away in the stretch for a victory on Saturday.

Art By Keene (Brad Hanners) cut out the early fractions before tiring under pressure in deep stretch, but held on for second. El Diablo (George Dennis) was in the win picture, finishing third.

Eddie Davis pulled Rodney Mitchell’s Harold Abbe N out of fourth on the final turn and overtook his front pacing rivals deep in the stretch to score a 1:56 triumph in the first of two $20,000 Delaware claiming paces. Smooth Trickster N (Ricky Still) was next. Biggar Raider (Hal Belote) prompted the early pace and had to settle for third.

The second $20,000 Delaware claimer went to fast finishing Dexters Voyage, driven by Vic Kirby for Nathan Sipple and trainer David Moffett. Rumble Time (D. Mark King) was second with Scarfie N (Kevin Sizer) third.

Two noses separated the first three finishers in the day’s top trot, a $12,500 claimer. The winner’s circle camera determined Brandon Givens, Lauren Saveiki and Nanticole Racing’s Yankee Mercury the winner, the second of the day for Jim Morand. Main Gate Red Rock (Wayne Truitt) was the just-miss second, with Locanda’s Mac N (Eddie Dennis) third.

Saturday and Sunday racing at Dover starts at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30. There is no live racing on Fridays. No charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and the 4-star Dover Downs Hotel. Call (302) 674-4600, ext. 3773.
