R First Class was one of five winners on Monday for Sylvain Filion.

Filion’s first victory came in the $76,788 opening OSS Gold split with heavy-favorite R First Class. The Ben Baillargeon trainee won by 3-1/2 lengths in a sharp 1:53.2.

The fifth-time Filion went back to the winner’s circle was after the $77,436 second OSS division with Capteur De Reve. The Maxime Velaye trained son of Muscle Mass was coming in from the Ottawa-Quebec area and scored a mild 5-1 upset.

In between his stakes victories, Filion also picked up victories with Velaye trainee Historie Enchantee ($12), Kyle Fellows trainee Deuce Deuce Deuce ($9.90) and Dean Nixon trainee Its A Big Secret ($14.80).

The five-win night by Filion gives him 110 wins on the season at Mohawk Racetrack, which has him fourth in the driver standings. Overall in 2017, Filion has 170 visits to the winner’s circle and more than C$3.5 million in earnings.

Filion will look to keep the momentum rolling on Tuesday evening, as he is scheduled to drive in nine races at Mohawk. Post time is 7:30 p.m.
