Campbellville, ON — Windsor-area trainer Bob McIntosh has stacked the deck in his favor going into Thursday night’s (July 24) C$20,000 second leg of the Whenuwishuponastar Series for 2-year-old pacing fillies at Mohawk.

Five of the 16 entries come from his stable, including the paired stable entry of West Of L A and Power Outage, who’ll go postward in the first of the two splits as the 2-1 favorites. West Of L A, a daughter of Western Hanover-Los Angeles, made an impressive debut at Flamboro Downs last week, winning by two lengths in 1:56.1. Power Outage, by Camluck out of the Artsplace mare Electrical Art, is making her first start on the Mohawk oval, having cut her teeth at Grand River Raceway in two starts, placing second in an OSS event on July 14 in 2:00.

McIntosh also has another daughter of Western Hanover, the filly Low Rise Jeans (out of Oliviajeankillean), and another Camluck, named Noshameinmygame (out of Artistic Pleasure), entered in the second Whenuwishuponastar split, as well as a filly sired by Dream Work, named Designer Dreams (out of Cammelloni). Together as a stable entry, they’re rated at 8-1.

But those three will have their work cut out for them trying to get past the precocious Shes A Fan, who is undefeated in three starts thus far, and won her division of the first Whenuwishuponastar leg last week by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:56.3. The daughter of Artiscape-Tear Drop is trained by Carl Jamieson (who also has an entry in the first split, a Western Ideal-Yankee Scandal filly named Break The News) and is rated the heavy 8-5 favorite. She and Break The News will both be piloted by Jody Jamieson.

The second leg of the Whenuwishuponastar Series are races three and six on Thursday night. Post times are 8:08 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. The C$55,000 (est.) final is scheduled for Thursday, July 31, at Mohawk.
