USTA introduces new contests for kids

by Jason Turner, editor, Youth Beats

Columbus, OH — The USTA is introducing two new contests for kids this summer. The contests, which include a coloring contest for kids 8 and under, and a drawing contest for kids 9-14, will both feature harness racing’s biggest trotting event — the Hambletonian.

The Hambletonian coloring contest will be open to children 8 years of age and younger, and will be divided into separate categories for boys and girls. Coloring submission must be the child’s own work and should be received no later than August 18.

The Hambletonian drawing contest will be open to youths between the ages of 9 and 14, and will also be divided into boys and girls categories. Submissions must be the child’s original work and should be received no later than August 18.

Artwork will not be returned unless a stamped, self-addressed envelope is provided with the submission. The USTA will judge entries on the merits of the contest and reserves the right to use them for future promotional purposes. Contest winners will be announced on September 1 and will receive USTA logo merchandise and qualify to have their work published in Youth Beats.

Entries must be accompanied by an entry form (available by clicking on this link) and should be submitted to Jamie Coffy, 750 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43214. For additional information or if you have questions call 1.877.800.8782, ext. 3260.
