Final call for ’09 PHHA pension distribution

by Ed Kobesky, Director of Media & Marketing, Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association

Lemoyne, PA — With just over a week to go before the end of 2009, dozens of horsemen who are eligible for pension benefits in Pennsylvania still have yet to sign up. They risk losing as much as $10,000 per participant depending on credits earned if they do not act before December 31.

The pension program includes drivers and trainers who competed at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack in 2009. However, to participate, you must be registered as members with the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association. Doing so takes only a few minutes. Applications are available for download at www.pahha.com (click on “Join”) or by visiting the PHHA’s offices in person at either track.

After December 31, any unclaimed pension dollars are returned to the plan and cannot be distributed under any circumstances. Please don’t wait until the last minute as the PHHA needs to receive your application and process it before the end of 2009. If you have any questions regarding eligibility, contact the PHHA as soon as possible.
