Final stop on PA Fair Circuit begins

by Jeff Zidek

The Columbia County Fair, the final stop on the Pennsylvania Fair Circuit, opened its three-day meet with several Bloomsburg Stakes — the only fair to offer its own stakes in addition to Pennsylvania Sires Stakes.

Apocalypse Hanover, trained and reined by Bill Fahy, recovered quickly from a break at the top of the stretch and went on to win the $4,263 first division of the 3-year-old colt trot in 2:03.1. Moira Fahy owns the winner, a son of Andover Hall.

Penn Monie Mosie, a Lindy Lane gelding owned by the Dunn Stable, captured the second split, worth $4,283, in 2:02. Roger Hammer drove the winner for trainer Boots Dunn.

Up next was a $3,825 freshman colt trot, won by Genevieve Louk’s Erio Hanover, a Tejano colt. Joe Offutt was the winning trainer and driver, as Erio Hanover scored in 2:06.

Two $4,300-plus splits of the freshman filly pace were next, won by Ty’s Artist (Real Artist) and Beda Hanover (Cam’s Card Shark). Ty’s Artist, owned, trained and driven by Hammer, scored in 2:01, while Beda Hanover, in rein to Cynthia Landess-Arjess, won in 2:00.2.

The day’s final two events were for 2-year-old trotting fillies, with each race going for a purse of $4,437. KT Attitude, owned and trained by Ken Weaver, won the first division in 2:05. Eddie McNeight drove the Sierra Kosmos filly to victory.

Randy Neal catch-drove Blueridge Saprisa to a 2:03.1 win in the second split. Stephen Lander and Kathy Schoeffel own the Donerail filly, who is trained by Steve Schoeffel.
