Twin B Scamper wins another photo

New Kent, VA — Twin B Scamper proved yet again that she knows exactly where Colonial Downs’ finish line is, winning Tuesday’s (September 25) $9,500 winners over feature by a neck over Drivin’ Miss Rudee in a pulsating finish.

Twin B Scamper visited Colonial’s winner’s circle four times last fall and most recently prevailed by a neck on Saturday, September 15, opening night at the New Kent oval.

Twin B Scamper, starting from the rail with driver Chris Page, was content to let Drivin’ Miss Rudee and Western Starr clear her in the early stages. Drivin’ Miss Rudee sprinted out to a 1-1/4 length lead over Western Starr through an opening quarter in :26.1, while Twin B Scamper held the rail in third.

Drivin’ Miss Rudee and Wilbur Yoder were able to slow it down on the front end, pacing a tepid second quarter in :30.1 to get to the half in :56.2. Western Starr and Dean Collins were content with second and Page was perfectly happy to stay on the rail around the turn as the field proceeded in single-file for most of the turn.

Swarde moved first-over from fourth near the three-eighths pole to get into third but Drivin’ Miss Rudee and Western Starr were able to fend off the challenge and turn for home with their status as the top two intact.

Twin B Scamper was stuck down on the rail as Drivin’ Miss Rudee and Western Starr accelerated at the top of the stretch. Swarde began to tire in the upper stretch and Page was able to find room for Twin B Scamper to get out and launch her powerful rally.

Drivin’ Miss Rudee finished very strongly to fend off Western Starr, but Twin B Scamper was flying in the final sixteenth to get up in the final strides with a well-timed move. Lovely Magic closed belatedly on the far outside to third, just a half-length behind Twin B Scamper.

Twin B Scamper paced the mile in 1:52.4 to score her 11th win of the year for owner-trainer Franklin Milby.
