Fire, transportation and liability insurance for Ontario

Campbellville, ON — The Central Ontario Standardbred Association announced today that beginning on Jan. 1, 2015, any horses being transported to and from Ontario Standardbred racetracks for the purpose of racing or qualifying will be insured for fire and transportation.

The following are the limits of coverage:

  • $25,000 per horse for horses qualified to race;
  • $7,500 per horse for horses not qualified to race;
  • $1,500 on tack per horse;
  • $7,500 on tack per member;
  • $250,000 maximum liability for tack and horses in any one occurrence.

In addition, all horses racing or qualifying at Ontario Standardbred racetracks will be covered under liability insurance while on the premises of any Standardbred racetrack in Ontario.

In the case of any claims you will need to contact the COSA office immediately following any occurrences. Complete information will be available on the COSA website prior to Jan. 1, 2015.
