First qualifying races set at Running Aces

Columbus, MN — Starter John Betts will call the horses to post in the first actual races in the history of Running Aces Harness Park on Saturday morning (March 29) at 11:00 a.m. A total of six qualifying heats are slated with 35 pacers divided into five races and five trotters grouped for the final heat of the session.

Fifteen of the horses scheduled to qualify on Saturday own sub-2:00 race records, topped by Sand Flying Dragon’s 1:53.3 record and $92,172 in career earnings. Wendy Haberberg of Elk Mound, Wis. owns and drives the 10-year-old gelding.

Other horses with fast records who will compete in the inaugural qualifying races at Running Aces are Bozo Knows (Dave Carter) 1:54.1; Mellowroad (Adam Hauser) 1:56.1; Who Do You Love (Ryan Lems) 1:56.2; Khanbert (Bob Lems) 1:56.4; Hearmenow (Craig Banks) 1:56.4; Afterparty (Bob Lems) 1:57; and Bathgate Bill (Adam Hauser) 1:57.3.

A second set of qualifiers will be held on Saturday, April 5, as a “dress rehearsal” for the Grand Opening of the inaugural season on Friday, April 11.
